minimalisma is the product of a mother’s passion for fashion and her desire to spend as much time as possible with her baby daughter.

Having worked with Danish fashion for almost a decade and having lived in seven different countries since she left the Faroe Islands in 1993, Maja moved to Switzerland during her maternity leave in 2011 to start family life with her husband and newborn daughter.

While considering how to balance family life with a career in fashion, she decided that the only way she would be able to spend quality time with her family and actively take part in her daughters childhood, was if she was in charge of her own work. Thus, she decided to start up minimalisma in autumn 2011.

Using her business and purchasing experiences combined with her passion for drawing, a small collection of 30 styles was developed and sent to three of her best producers.

All styles are combining clean Scandinavian simplicity with a mothers general quality consciousness with regards to her child while made in the best possible natural materials such as silk, cashmere, linen and the finest cottons. Moreover, every style has been designed with optimal comfort in mind, so there are no tight strings or elastics to discomfort the child.

Good supplier-relations and the decision to sell the styles directly to the customers via the webshop, made it possible to keep prices highly competitive while offering only superior qualities.

The result of this first exclusive collection was made available for sale on 1 May 2012 through www.minimalisma.com.
